Lucifer (Devil) from Kascho
The use of red tones symbolizes the dark and sinister nature of Lucifer. At the same time, the different shades in the painting stand for the complexity and multi-layered nature of the character. Using faux gold leaf, Kascho painted the Karolus monogram in the bottom corner of the painting. The monogram symbolizes the bond between the devil and the city of Aachen. According to legend, he is said to have played a major role in the construction of Aachen Cathedral.
