Charlemagne of Kascho
Charlemagne was king of the Frankish Empire from 768 to 814. During the cold winter months, he often stayed in Aachen to bathe in the hot springs. Hence the name of the Carolus Thermen. In the years before his death, he even made the city of Aachen the center of his empire. Accordingly, Charlemagne left many traces in Aachen and is therefore of particular importance for the city.
